A.   KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Design and Development of New Product / New Process /  New Toolings and facilitate continuous improvements in current Process (Net output, Efficiency)  / Product Type, Toolings, Capital Investments, Capacity calculations, Strategic Planning, Cost Savings/Cost Reduction Projects

 

B.   PROFILE OF JOB HOLDER
Ø  Graduate in Mechanical Engineering
Ø  Around 4-5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
Ø  Exposure to contemporary manufacturing techniques

 

C.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.    Product Development
Ø  Interaction with Group / IPD for the product development & design
Ø  Approval of component drawing
Ø  Approval of change controls related to component ,process, any major change
Ø  To finalize the Quick feasibility cost for new product proposals
Ø  To coordinate & develop the New products as per customer requirement
Ø  To finalize the route of material for the product.
Ø  Support role of Quality & supply chain up to Ist batch in meeting the above objective.

 

  1. Process Improvement
  • Benchmark the group process & plan the activities accordingly
  • Improve the Net out put in the channel by various projects like process improvement, channel efficiency improvement, Grinding allowance reduction, Alternative processes

 

3.    Tool Design
  • Improvements in Tool design & design for new  products
  • Formulate new design concept
  • Approval of design concept

 

4.    Quality systems implementation
  • Responsible implementation of QS –9000 / TS:16949
5.    Strategic planning
  • Investment
    • Identify, scrutinize & freeze investment requirement with cost benefit & analysis.
    • Co-ordinate to get the approval for Group for the investment.
    • Monitor Capital Investment for  its effective use

 

  • Support Factory manager  in Strategic planning
    • Capacity booking – channel loading, support
    • Product mix finalization
    •   Finalize the types to be loaded in the channels

 

  • Efficiency   -  identify & implement improvement plan

 

  • New business – to check the capacity & feasibility to absorb new types

 

  • Support for  standard cost calculation
